Bang Bang cauliflower is a super speedy veggie recipe that packs a real fiery kick. Roasted charred cauliflower is tossed in the spicy, sweet and sour sauce. Many recipes involve deep frying but roasting gives a great charred flavour, healthier and involves much less washing up! Serve with some steamed rice and simple stir-fried greens for a veggie Asian inspired feast. Swap the honey for agave syrup to make it vegan.

Ingredients

1 Head of Cauliflower or Romanesco
2 Cloves Garlic (Finely Sliced)
1 Onion (Finely Sliced)
1 tsp Sesame Oil
1 tbsp Sunflower Oil
1 tbsp Soy Sauce
2 tbsp Sesame Seeds

For the sauce

50ml Sriracha Sauce
3 tbsp Soy Sauce
5 tbsp Sweet Chilli Sauce
3 tbsp Honey or Agave Syrup
2 tbsp Rice Vinegar

Method

Step 1.

Pre heat your oven to 200c. Cut your romanesco cauliflower into florets and place in a large mixing bowl along with the onion, garlic, sesame oil, sunflower oil and soy sauce. Place on a baking tray and roast for 20-25 mins then sprinkle over the sesame seeds and bake for another 10 mins until well roasted and cooked through.

 Step 2.

Whilst the cauliflower is roasting make the sauce. Add the ingredients to a sauce pan and add a splash of water. Bring to the boil and simmer for around 5-7 mins until reduced and slightly thickened. Set aside and keep warm.

 Step 3.

Take your cauliflower out of the oven and add to the mixing bowl and add the sauce and toss. Serve with some steamed rice and stir fried greens.
